No details on whether this is free or not, but I’m guessing it’s for badges only since it’s an official South By Southwest showcase. However, for those of you with badges wouldn’t hurt to stop by Antone’s on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 11AM to 5PM for free food and drinks. Tons of performances by international artists too, like Cassette Kids whose indie electronica beats will have you dancing. No RSVP info, but check back for any updates!
Come celebrate with Sound Check Magazine at their 4th Year B-day Party at South By Southwest. The festivities will commence on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Emo’s (600 Red River St.) and will be FREE to all. Although no wristbands or badges are required Sound Check magazine is collecting donations for The Childrenʼs Miracle Network during the party. Those who donate will get free goodies, including tacos from Austin’s famous Mexican restaurant, El Arroyo. So go RSVP, enjoy some music, donate $2 and eat up kids! Let’s help Sound Check magazine raise their goal of $2,000!
Are you guys ready to meet fellow SXSWi attendees and have some FREE funnel cakes?! Well, make sure to thank Jason Falls, Tim Hayden, Chillie Falls, and Tom Martin for throwing this awesome party that’s set for Friday, March 12, 2010 at Molotov (719 West 6th St.) from 8:30PM to 1AM. Head over to RSVP here as there’s less than 350 tickets left and I’m sure they will go fast! DId I mention there will be drinks too?!
Don’t leave South By Southwest without getting a taste of what the Germans have to offer! Initiative Music is throwing a luncheon on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 12 NOON to 3PM at Park Side (301 E. 6th St.) to celebrate all things German. Meet German music delegates, listen to some German artists and of course indulge in German food cooked up by some of the finest German chefs (have I mentioned German enough?!). No specifics on what they’ll be drumming up, but one can only imagine it’ll be scrumptious. Of course it’s all FREE so long as you sign up for your invite CLICK HERE.
And if you’re not so much into the burlesque there will be a second stage with sketch artists and magicians. And of course it’s FREE (catch — with an SXSW Interactive badge ONLY). BUT if you have to attend then tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door, for both stages or $8 online and $10 at the door for the indoor stage (with the magicians and artists). For tix you can buy from Emo’s directly or locals can head to Waterloo Records.
Let people know you’re attending by checking out the event on Facebook.
South By Southwest may be all about music, film and techies but they did leave some room to tickle your funny bone. Comedy Central is hosting an official (Badges and wristbands ONLY) showcase, Wednesday, March 17, 2010 full of today’s hottest and up-n-coming comedians capped off by a screening of Drawn Together: The Movie! FREE Panda Express will be given to all those in attendance — but only during the movie screening (so not until 12am). But all worth it if you’re looking for a few laughs (and free Chinese food). RSVP on Facebook.
Lamebook.com is throwing in their words at an Unofficial South By Southwest and REALLY LATE launch party (as Lamebook has provided plenty of laughs already to the unsuspecting) on Saturday March 13, 2010 from 6PM to 3AM at Shangri-La (1016 E. 6th St.) Lucky for you all that means is you get FREE food in the form of BBQ as well as FREE beer. There IS a catch though. There’s a $2 cover charge (and really for all that free food and drinks it’s worth is) so that Lamebook can pay all the bands scheduled to perform. You can check out the event on Facebook but official RSVP is here.
If you feel a bit nauseous at the thought that this party, The Good Capitalist is putting on in honor of all do-gooding entrepreneurs, then it’s a good thing you can stuff your face on their free food! ;) We kid, we kid. We think it’s great! No specifics on what all will be served exactly but this party is going to be HOT and only a few tickets are left so RSVP quickly! It is open to EVERYONE no badges or wristbands required. Party is Monday, March 15th, 2010 in the American Youthworks building (original site of the Fader Fort) from 7PM to 9PM.
